trulytype is a Los Angeles–based type foundry founded by Philip Cronerud, designing original typefaces and custom fonts for film, brands, products, and culture.
Our studio brings together type designers, font engineers, and designers to create typography that begins with an idea. Every project is developed around the concept it serves, shaping how a story feels, how a brand speaks, and how it is remembered.
We work across title sequences, visual identities, digital products, campaigns, editorial systems, and brand experiences, creating type that feels intentional from the first sketch to the final implementation. Every decision is made with purpose, whether the goal is clarity, tension, energy, precision, or something more instinctive.
Working closely with directors, creative studios, agencies, brands, and in-house teams, we develop typefaces that perform across every medium, from cinematic frames to everyday interfaces, while remaining technically robust and built for real-world use.
Our name
We write our name as one word, all lowercase: trulytype. You’ll often see TrulyType, Truly Type, or trulytype team—we’re none of those. We’re just trulytype.

What formats do you provide?
We provide WOFF2 and OTF formats for broad compatibility across platforms and browsers.
Do you offer variable fonts?
We’re constantly improving our collection. While we don’t currently offer variable fonts, many of our styles are designed for smooth transitions between weights and styles.
What's included in licensing?
Font usage depends on your license, options include web, desktop, and mobile app use. No uses are included without a valid license.
Can I modify the fonts?
Modification rights depend on your license type. Contact us for custom licensing that includes modification permissions.
Do you offer custom fonts?

What about web performance?
